This 85 page monograph was originally presented as chapter 2 in the Anthology of Craniomandibular Orthopedics, Volume 2. It covers information regarding basic concepts of electrophysics as it relates to electrotherapeutics. Detailed discussion on the application of high voltage stimulation, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, iontophoresis, and ultrasound are given. This book is designed as an educational and self-help book for the TMD sufferer. Dr. Shankland begins with an overview of the area of TMD and its complexities and follows this with excellent information regarding treatment as well as self-help. The book is an excellent resource to solve many of the confusions that exist around TMD for the patient and clarifies for the patient the current concepts in diagnosis and treatment.
